Psychotherapy, counseling and coaching with adults:
Finding the help you need to heal emotional pain.
I use therapies based on psychoanalytic principles that offer ways to understand our emotions and to heal the pain that can affect and limit daily life. Therapy is a partnership in which the therapist and the client collaborate to discover and work through the “road blocks” that interfere with life.
Emotional difficulties are often the result of thoughts and feelings outside of a person's awareness. By exploring and working through these issues in the safety of a trusting relationship with a therapist, one can experience lasting changes. Present stresses and crises are also contributors to one's sense of well being and can be an important focus for therapeutic intervention.
I have the privilege to work with clients who have various issues including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating problems, and relationship problems, trauma, Austism/Aspergers, and ADHD.
Psychotherapy, counseling and coaching with children and teens:
Children, adolescents and young adults are our most cherished responsibility. As parents we do not receive a training manual to guide our children through life.
Sometimes we are faced with medical, environmental, genetic, neurological and social factors that may compel us to search for support and reassurance through professional guidance to create personal and familial changes.
In my clinical experiences with youth and families, I have found that counseling has empowered parents and children to find the courage, skills and resiliency to produce new pathways for change.
I understand that children and their families do their best to function with the challenges that they face. But when they have exhausted their resources, I can help them to view the obstacles from different perspectives and gain the skill and confidence to deal with them more successfully.
In my private practice, I join the client(s) in a warm and supportive environment. Together we form a common bond to create solutions that can easily be incorporated into the client’s lifestyle.
I am also a parent and a grandparent. This experience has enriched my professional expertise, inspired me to focus on family dynamics, and taught me the importance of supportive connections. I believe that each person’s unique challenges are not obstacles but rather opportunities for new learning.
Wonderful changes happen when we can have a clear vision of a new reality and the strategies to produce it.
